2010 Spring Garden Fair

Volunteer Opportunities for Master Gardeners

 

 

TREASURER ASSISTANT-Sat.11:00-2:00 & 2:00-5:00 & Sun. 12:00-4:00

Duties-Collect and count money. Make change when necessary

 

FLOATERS-Sat. 7:30-12:00 & 12:00-5:00 & Sun. 7:30-12:00 & 12:00-6:00pm

Duties- Volunteers will help out wherever needed!

 

FAIR SET-UP-Thurs. 9:00-1:00  & Fri. 8:00-12:00                                                                             

Duties- Layout, Measure, Stake and Number Vendor booths. Set-up raffle area. Place direction signs on black top.

 

FAIR BREAK-DOWN- Sun. 4:00-6:00                                                                                                                      

Duties-Pick up all Vendor booth number stakes and flags. Stack all tables in 4-H building. Take down signs.

 

VENDOR SET-UP – Fri. 9:30-3:00 & 2:30-7:30pm & Sat.6:00-9:00am                                                                            Duties -Help direct vendors to their assigned booth spaces and assist with set up if requested by the vendor. 

***This is an active volunteer position which requires the ability to stand, walk over uneven terrain, and perhaps lift potted plan materials.***

 

4-H BUILDING SET-UP-thurs.10:00am-12:00

Duties- Help move tables and set up dividers(muscles needed).

 

4-H BUILDING BREAK DOWN - -Sunday 4:00pm-6:00pm                                                                 

Duties- Set up display booths and tables, food and soil test area. Meet in the 4-H Building.

 

HOSPITALITY-Sat.8:00am-12:00 & 12:00-5:00pm  & Sun. 8:00am-12:00  & 12:00-4:00pm.                               

Duties- Host & Hostess. Smile and welcome all people to the Master Gardener Spring Garden Fair. Have knowledge of all areas: Food, Door Prizes, Soil Tests & Education etc. Count & Record each person. Ask how they heard about the Fair & record answer. Thank them for coming and weÕll see you next year!

 

VENDOR & MASTER GARDENER BREAK ROOM –This opportunity is full at this time.                            

Duties- Receive donated items, portion and serve to Vendors & Master Gardeners in Vendor/MG Hospitality Room.

 

DONATED FINGER FOODS for VENDOR MASTER GARDENER BREAK ROOM-Sat.& Sun by 9am please.     

*** Non-refrigerated items only ***

Fruit or Vegetable Platters (no dips), Crackers & Cheese, Cookies, Bars, Breads, Cakes & Cinnamon Rolls

PLEASE~ Label all items (Mark if they have Nuts)   Store bought ideas are fine too.

Place in NON-RETURNABLE containers & deliver to the Vendor/MG Hospitality Room in Horning Hall

 

PLANT CHECK SET-UP-Fri. 9:00am-12:00pm.                                                                                         

Duties-Help set up the plant check area.  Help set up tables and benches in holding area.  Organize boxes.

 

PLANT CHECK SET-UP (Hanging Baskets)-Fri. 9:00am-12:00

Duties:  Set up the holding areas for hanging baskets---PREFER MEN because of heavy overhead lifting

 

CLINIC TENT SET UP-Fri. 10:00am-1:00pm.                             

Duties-Help put table Cloths on Booths & Decorations on Walls

 

CLINIC-Sat. 9:00am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-5:00pm                                                                                                    

Duties-Answer gardening questions!

 

SOIL TESTING-Sat. 8:30am-12:30pm & 12:00pm-5:pm & Sun. 8:30am-12:30pm & 12:00pm-4:00pm         

Duties-Learn how to calibrate and operate pH testing instruments & prepare soil samples. Analyze soil pH samples brought to the Fair by the public. PLEASE BRING PERSONAL SOIL SAMPLES!

 

RAFFLE –Sat. 8:00am-12:30pm & 1:00pm-5:00pm. Sun.8:00am-12:30pm & 1:00pm-4:00pm.             

Duties-Help sell raffle tickets. May help with drawings and giving out raffle prizes. Vendor plant pick-up. There will be an orientation meeting and all volunteers will be notified.

 

RAFFLE SET-UP-Fri. 9:00am-1:00pm                                                                                                     

Duties-Help with the set-up, arrange benches and stock area with raffle donations

 

RAFFLE DONATIONS-                                                                                                 

Bring  a Plant for Spring Garden Fair ~ NO LIMIT. Plants can be delivered on FRIDAY, Saturday or Sunday to the Raffle Area (preferably early in the day)

PLANT PICKUP-9:00am-1:00pm

Duties- Volunteers will need a TRUCK to pick up raffle donations:-9:00 am -1:00pm

 

COFFEE SERVICE-Sat.7:00am-10:00am &10:00am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-4:00pm(Sunday same shifts going to 3:00pm) Duties-Brew coffee for vendors and volunteers in breakroom.

 

PARKING-Sat. 7:00am-12:00pm & 12:00pm-4:00pm  & Sun. 7:00am-12:00pm & 12:00pm-4:00pm                 

Duties- Welcoming, directing and giving out helpful information. Making people feel comfortable and welcome 

The sheriffÕs explorer unit and Canby High School students will assist with parking at every shift- you may be asked to help with that.

 

10 MINUTE UNIVERSITY-Sat. 10:30am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-4:00pm & Sun. 10:30am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-3:30pm. Duties-Assist in 10 minute classes taught every 30 minutes. Promote classes on fairground. Greet, pass out and pick up evaluations, and take head counts. Promote the Master Gardener program. Pass out handouts. Assist instructors as needed. 

 

NEW PLANT INTRODUCTION-Sat. 9:00am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-5:00pm & Sun 9:00am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-5:00pm.     Duties-Help with set-up, bidding, and closing of morning and afternoon "Silent Auction" of grower donated plants.

 

POTTING STATION-Sat. -9:00am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-5:00pm & Sun 9:00am-1:00pm & 1:00pm-4:00pm

Duties-help people design their selected plants & containers. Plant containers for people.    Sell Pots.

 

SIGN BREAKDOWN-Sun. 4:00pm-6:00pm

Duties-Help take down and store.

 

SIGN SET UP-Thurs. 9:00am-12:00pm

Duties-Take signs out of storage; clean and inventory signs. Hang some signs.
