New Master Gardener Training began January 12, 2007

2007 Class                        Class break with food         Noon Time Chat Learning

Pruning Clinic was February 3rd @ Paul Miken's house (Master Gardeners Only) and we had a great time and the was weather marvelous!

Mason Bee Workshop was held on February 17th (Third Annual) @ Milwaukie Center 10 - Noon. (MG only) Wood blocks and bees were provided.

We had more than  40 Mason Bee addicts busy drilling blocks and watching a video from Oregon State University.

Tomato Trellis Workshop was March 17th (First Annual) @ Milwaukie Center 10 - Noon (MG only), 10 guage concrete reinforcing wire was provided.

Soil Testing and a mini 10 Minute University was held October 20, 2007 @ Milwaukie Center from 10 - Noon ( and as always it is Open to the Public). Please bring in only                    a tablespoon  of soil from each location in the garden you want tested.  We had 23 clients bring in 66 soil samples which is about average for a fall clinic.

New this year was the 10 Minute University that we introduced at the Spring Garden Fair and was so well received that we are now doing it in a community setting.  The subject will                             be "Putting your Plants to Bed for the Winter. Jean had information you would not want to miss. Our next soil testing will be in the spring of 2008.

At the March clinic at the Center we had 47 clients bring in 150 samples to be tested and is a new record for our March Clinic.  Thanks everyone for helping. The fall clinic had 23                 people bring in 66 soil samples in a drenching downpour that lasted all day. Gardeners are a hardy bunch.

Bring soil samples from various locations where you grow plants. If you would take three or four samples in most cases this is enough.  We only need a couple tablespoons

of soil to make a test.  See link below about taking samples.

We encourage to public to participate in the soil testing so that you will know the pH of your soil and what is the target pH for the flowers, shrubs and vegtables that you will be growing.  We can assist with recommendations to bring your soil to the proper pH.

How to take soil samples for testing are on the OSU Extension web site.
